Brighten the lives of sick kids
STARLIGHT Children’s Foundation and Universal Pictures will host a preview screening of The BoxTrolls in Toowoomba this Sunday at 11am.
More than 150 screenings will be held around Australia ahead of the film’s official release on September 26 in an effort to raise much-needed funds to brighten the lives of sick kids.
The preview events are part of the 21st annual Starlight Movie Month, which will take place throughout September, aiming to raise $500,000 to inspire the imaginations of more than 12,000 sick kids.
From the Laika Studios which brought us Coraline and starring the voices of Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Elle Fanning, Sir Ben Kingsley, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Toni Collette, The BoxTrolls is a comedic fable that unfolds in Cheesebridge, a posh Victorian-era town obsessed with wealth, class, and fine cheeses.
Beneath its charming cobblestone streets dwell the BoxTrolls, a cavern-dwelling community of quirky and lovable oddballs who wear recycled cardboard boxes the way turtles wear their shells.
Star Elle Fanning said: “The BoxTrolls and I are working with Starlight Children’s Foundation to brighten the lives of sick kids and their families.
“Together with participating cinemas we are donating $2 from every ticket sold to Starlight. Be the first to join in the fun of The BoxTrolls and help us make a difference to the lives of Starlight kids.”
Movies and entertainment are vital forms of positive distraction used every day in Starlight Express Rooms in children’s hospitals around the country.
Select cinemas will also feature family-friendly pre-film fun, including Captain Starlight, Starman and Stargirl appearances, balloon-making, face painting and craft activities, and Starlight merchandise available for sale.
Tickets are available now for $11, with $2 from each ticket sale going to Starlight.
