American visitor likes Garden City as place to qualify
AMERICAN Casey Robinson likes what she has seen in Toowoomba and is keen to extend her stay in the city by producing some of her best tennis during the next week.
Robinson today joins a list of hopefuls at Toowoomba Regional Tennis Centre-USQ looking to qualify for a place in next week’s Toowoomba International Tilly’s Crawler Parts main draw.
Tomorrow it’s the turn of the males to try and qualify for one of the remaining places in this year’s Hutchinson Builders Toowoomba International men’s field.
The International features 128 emerging Australian and international players out to win valuable ranking points in the Pro Tour tournament.
World number 169 Luke Saville is the number one seed in this year’s men’s draw while 2013 Toowoomba International women’s champion Isabella Holland will defend her title.
The men’s field includes 2013 finalist Andrew Whittington and Queenslander Ben Mitchell.
US Open junior singles and doubles champion Omar Jasika from Victoria is also a starter.
Holland is set to meet strong opposition in the women’s draw from a field including Jessica Moore and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Sally Peers.
Robinson arrived in Toowoomba this week after playing in the Cairns International.
She helped tune for today’s qualifying matches with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Queenslander Rachael Huang in yesterday’s Toowoomba
