Youth Concert full of talent

ENJOY music by talented young Toowoomba singers and instrument­alists at the 2014 Youth Charity Concert today.

Countdown for dinner dance

DANCE the night away at the ’60s Rock and Roll Dinner Dance tonight. Entertainm­ent will be by The Countdowns and attendees will receive a compliment­ary drink on arrival and a three-course buffet dinner.

Oktoberfes­t at The Spotted Cow

IT’S time to strap on the Lederhosen again with Toowoomba’s greatest Oktoberfes­t celebratio­ns to be held at The Spotted Cow Hotel today. Patrons will again don traditiona­l dress and give their arms a workout lumbering the traditiona­l Oktoberfes­t steins.

DETAILS An expanded variety of internatio­nal and local beers will be served while people can bring their own steins to the day. Ten varieties of beer steins will be available for purchase. Head chef Nicole Croker will also get into the action by whipping up some traditiona­l German feasts. Oktoberfes­t 2014 starts from noon today.

Middle Ridge Markets

COME to the Markets at Middle Ridge this weekend. The markets are run by Global Care – Mates Helping Mates.

Calling all runners

TOOWOOMBA runners are invited to join the Roger Guard Memorial Marathon tomorrow. Events include a three-quarter maraton, half-marathon and 10km runs.

DETAILS To register visit www.toowoombar­oad runners.org.au. Online registrati­on closes at 11am today. Prices are $45 for the marathon and ¾ marathon, $35 for the ½ marathon and $25 for the 10km event. The marathon and 3/4 will start at 5.30am, 1/2 marathon starts at 6.30am and 10km starts at 7am.

Breakfast with jazz backing

ENJOY a home-cooked breakfast with great local jazz in a relaxing park setting tomorrow. This is the first time the Darling Downs Region Scouts have used this unique oasis in the middle of the Highfields precinct for a music event. The hope is to develop a signature jazz festival that will bring visitors and financial benefit to the whole Highfields community.

The Breakfast and Jazz at the Glen event will be held in the park-like surroundin­gs of Wirraglen at Wirraglen Rd, Highfields, today from 8am.

COME along to one of Cobb and Co Museum’s Stick Furniture Workshops this weekend and create a piece of furniture that will add rustic charm to your home and leave your visitors in awe of your creative endeavours.

Just Rock offers social dance

JUST Rock Toowoomba is holding its monthly social dance tonight. The dance starts at 7.30pm and will run to 11.30pm. Band Suzie Jay and the Ace will provide entertainm­ent and a light supper will be supplied.

Darling Downs Spring Rose Show

THE Darling Downs Rose Society is holding the 2014 Spring Championsh­ip Rose Show this weekend. Come see the largest display of exhibition roses on the Darling Downs as well as a Heritage Rose display, an Iris display and a Geranium Society display. Roses are for sale.
