My Midwives takes out Business of the Year at chamber awards
BANKING ON SUCCESS Business community celebrates in style
WINNERS ARE GRINNERS: My Midwives directors (from left) Ros Beard, Karen McDonald Smith, Sonya Sloan, Makayla McIntosh and Liz Wilkes celebrate winning Business of the Year at the Heritage Bank Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards at the weekend.
YOU know you’ve nailed the organisation of an awards program when even the people who didn’t win are full of goodwill and congratulations towards organisers as well as fellow competitors.
A beaming Andrew Wielandt was positively stoked to report that this was the case for this year’s Heritage Bank Business Excellence Awards.
The Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce president said this year’s award ceremony set new attendance records, with some 600 representatives and supporters of local business descending on Rumours International for the Darling Downs business world’s night of nights.
My Midwives picked up the Heritage Bank Business of the Year award while Weis Frozen Foods was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
A special presentation was also made for the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers and The Chronicle Garden Competition after 65 highly-successful years.
“The Business Excellence Awards is one of the chamber’s signature events and I think if you have a record number of people attending the awards night and strong interest in voting, the business, and even wider community, holds it in pretty high regard,” Mr Wielandt said.
“Even the people who didn’t win were really happy with the night.”
