Home invasion sets off hunt for women

-

A TERRIFYING Saturday morning for an East Toowoomba resident has sparked a local manhunt.

Toowoomba police are still searching for two women aged in their 20s after a violent burglary in Bruce St on Saturday morning.

A Police Media spokesman said the women forced their way into an East Toowoomba home about 9am Saturday after knocking on the door.

They barged through when the door was answered and overcame the woman in residence, gaffer-taping her body and mouth.

They went on to search the home, taking a small amount of money before running away.

The victim, aged 29, was shaken, but unharmed in the incident.

Police cars were stationed at intersections around the area, but the women are still at large.

Both women are described as being possibly Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance, in their early 20s, about 160cm with light brown complexions and bad teeth.

The first woman was wearing a black hooded-jumper with white writing, black jeans, black socks and thongs and pink sunglasses.

The second was also described as having a heavy build and wearing a light navy hooded-jumper with green, yellow and red pyjama pants and dark sunglasses. She was also carrying a blue bag.

Police believe that the two women fled through Queens Park.

They are appealing for anyone in the area who may have witnessed the pair or any suspicious behaviour to contact Toowoomba Criminal Investigation Branch or anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
