Dalby man accused of stalking

-

A DALBY businessman stands accused of stalking a netballer and stealing the identity of a Melbourne pool cleaner.

Stephen John Grott, 46, will front Toowoomba Magistrates Court next week accused of using the identity of the Melbourne man to entice Queensland Firebirds goal shooter Romelda Aiken to send him nude photos.

Later, he allegedly uploaded the photos to the internet, forcing Ms Aiken to contact the police in distress, sparking an eight-month investigation to track him down.

Upper Mt Gravatt detectives were tasked with uncovering the true identity of the stalker and arrested Mr Grott earlier this month.

He was charged with one count of stalking and two counts of using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence in relation to Ms Aiken’s allegations.

The Dalby building certifier was also charged with one count of stalking in relation to the using of the Melbourne man’s identity.

Mr Grott is scheduled to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on October 20.
