USQ achievers honoured
USQ hosts inaugural event
SOME of the University of Southern Queensland’s (USQ) best and brightest students were acknowledged at the inaugural USQ Student Awards on Wednesday night.
The awards celebrated the achievements of students with categories including Sportsperson of the Year, Student Representative of the Year, Community Service Award, Multicultural Award, Indigenous Service Award, Clubs and Societies Award and more.
Recipient of an All Rounder Award was Bachelor of Creative Arts student Danielle Harvey, who said it was a great honour.
“I’m an external student so it was lovely to get a chance to meet other students at USQ,” she said.
“The awards ceremony was great and it was excellent to see so many high achievers.”
Ms Harvey said she was majoring in arts management and hoped to become a full-time art gallery curator.
“I’ve always been interested in other people’s art and creations so it seems like a good position for me,” she said.
“I’ve been curating at an art gallery in Fortitude Valley called Artisan and in the past I’ve worked at Ipswich Art Gallery as well as tutoring high school students.”
The awards were open to all current students with a GPA of four or above with each award having specific criteria that nominees needed to address.
