Aust Day nominations

NOMINATIONS for the Western Downs Australia Day awards are open and residents are being called on to put forward their suggestions.

Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Ray Brown said the awards were a chance for the community to recognise outstanding local contributions by those whose achievements often went unnoticed.

“If you know someone, an organisation, group or event that has gone above and beyond and significantly contributed to our local communities, then now’s the time to get your nomination in,” Cr Brown said.

“Don’t wait until the day before nominations close to submit your nominee.”

Categories include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Event and Project of the Year, Junior Cultural Award, Junior Sports Award, Senior Cultural Award and Senior Sports Award.

Nominations close on Monday, December 1.
