Security risk

-

I HAVE absolutely no objection to Muslim women wearing headscarves. Being fully covered from head to toe, except for a peephole for the eyes, is a different situation entirely. For a start, driving a motor vehicle in such garb is clearly dangerous.

It should be equally obvious to all thinking people that this total covering would be an excellent disguise for an armed robber, terrorist or suicide bomber. Please read that last statement very carefully before we have any hysteria about Islamophobia. Fact: if bike helmets and balaclavas are seen as security risks in banks etc, far more so the burka (or burqa). One could hide a whole arsenal of weapons if used as a disguise for someone intending evil.

Although the PM’s “budgie smugglers” are hardly elegant, they are appropriate attire for a volunteer lifesaver, one of several forms of unpaid public service the PM has engaged in. Give credit where credit is due.
