Bali bombings remembered

-

AUSTRALIANS paused at the weekend to remember those family and friends who were killed in the Bali terrorist bombings.

It has been 12 years since three terrorist car bombs were exploded in the Kuta nightclub district of the popular tourist destination.

Eighty-eight Australians were among the 202 people killed when bombs exploded at Paddy’s Bar and the Sari Club on October 12, 2002. A further 240 were injured. Memorial services were held at Kings Park in Perth and at Coogee Beach.

Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop said the senseless attack has had a profound and lasting effect not only on the survivors, families, and friends of the victims, but also on the wider Australian community.
