What an amazing night was had last Saturday to celebrate the Heritage Bank Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards. More than 600 people attended at Rumours Internatio­nal in their finest “Movie Magic” attire to celebrate excellence in business in our region. While there were numerous winners during the evening, the Business of the Year was awarded to My Midwives and Hall of Fame was bestowed upon Weis Frozen Foods. Thank you to all involved, including sponsors, applicants, judges and most importantl­y chamber staff Helen, Tracey and Kristina. Transport Forum Outcomes Last Friday, the chamber hosted 27 stakeholde­rs to discuss the current state of play with transport in our region. All parties noted the recently published Toowoomba Regional Council draft sustainabl­e transport strategy (http://www.toowoombar­c. qld.gov.au/our-region/majorproje­cts/sustainabl­e-transport -strategy) was a sound basis for a template towards. Of particular note was discussion around TRC’s considerat­ion for a multi storey carpark within the CBD and a current review of Toowoomba’s bus network which is expected see a number of changes and improvemen­ts. Business at Breakfast Aside from being the chamber AGM, make sure you attend Business at Breakfast on Friday, October 31, to hear from two guest speakers. First speaker the Mayor discussing the state of the region. The second speaker will be from QantasLink, giving an update on their operations at Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport.
