TAFE restaurant proves it’s a sure bet on Cup day

-

TAFE Queensland South West in Toowoomba’s Futures Restaurant was the place to be for this year’s Melbourne Cup, expanding to accommodate 80 hungry and cheerful attendees at its fully-booked event.

The function’s guests were treated to a mouth-watering menu varying from a quail and chicken mezzo platter to indulgent caramel tartlets, with cocktails, competitions, and sweeps, all facilitated by the TAFE in Toowoomba’s Cookery, Hospitality and Events students.

Hospitality and Events teacher Saraid McKay said there were a lot of smiling faces on the day – including her students – who were pleased to have been able to put together such a successful event.

“There’s always a big lead up to Melbourne Cup – it’s a significant calendar event for us, and I’m thrilled to say the students pulled it off with grace, professionalism and skill – we’re very proud of their efforts,” Ms McKay said.
