Country musician entertains fans
TOP country musician Shane Nicholson entertained Toowoomba fans recently.
As part of the McGregor Summer Series Concerts, Mr Nicholson performed a repertoire of his country-folk hits which have seen him perform with the likes of Kasey Chambers and Paul Kelly.
Artsworx manager Mark Millett said the McGregor Summer Series Concerts were an exciting development in Artsworx’ new contemporary direction.
“Shane is a leading Australian contemporary songwriter and this is a fantastic opportunity for our creative arts students, McGregor students and the community to be inspired to start writing their own music — maybe it was even a New Year’s resolution,” he said.
“Shane’s sound is pure and satisfying. The combination of incredible technical talent and his ability to evoke a strong emotional response in audiences is something not to be missed.”
Shane was awarded the APRA Song of the Year Golden Guitar Award for his song Bad Machines in 2012. He has also won the APRA Country Work of the Year award for Famous Last Words and a Golden Guitar for Group/Duo of the Year in January 2013 for his work with Kasey Chambers.
“Not only is Shane an immensely talented musician and songwriter, he was also named Producer of the Year at the 2013 Country Music Awards of Australia,” Mr Millett said.
