Twins fall back in love with home
A YEAR after Channel Seven film crews took over a Darling Downs street to film home renovations for House Rules, the reveal is finally here.
Over the past week, viewers across the country watched Dalby’s Luke Cook’s house remodelled by their competing teams on the reality television series.
As Luke and his twin brother Cody settle into life in the limelight thanks to the show, they are only just seeing the story behind their new decor.
Luke said watching the show this week had “made me fall in love with the house all over again”.
“I’ve loved this week; it’s been my favourite one so far,” he said.
“We didn’t know what was going on since we were away, so now we’re seeing the stories behind the furniture and why the layout is the way it is and everything. I’ve been loving it.”
While the men had no say in the final design by their opponents on the show, they had laid down a few house rules.
The pair had requested Cody’s room to channel George Clooney, and give Luke a classic gentlemen’s master suite. The overall plan was to add city shine to the country gem.
Cody said they could tell the new design had been designed for them and not for the points.
“You really appreciate it more when you see everything they went through; they put in so much work,” he said.
As a special surprise gift, the other teams added a front porch to the weatherboard house in addition to the internal renovation.
With Dalby showcased on the show, he said the region had come across authentically.
“We were a bit nervous that they would show Dalby as being really outback but they’ve shown Dalby the way it really is, everybody being warm and welcoming,” he said.
“There was no other build that we did where the teams got given a cake by the locals.”
The renovation reveal airs tomorrow at 7pm.
