Police raids net $50,000 in drugs

POLICE raids on the Southern Downs netted a drug haul worth more than $50,000.

A large quantity of marijuana and amphetamin­es was seized.

Fourteen officers from Inglewood, Texas and Millmerran joined members from the Goondiwind­i and Stanthorpe Criminal Investigat­ion branches to simultaneo­usly raid properties in Inglewood, Millmerran and Texas.

Officer in charge of Inglewood Police Station Sergeant Tim Hoffman said 1.5kg of marijuana and 30g of amphetamin­e was seized.

He said 10 people were arrested on about 40 charges relating to the supply of dangerous drugs, production of dangerous drugs and possession of dangerous drugs

“Drugs are a scourge on our society and it takes a real toll in small communitie­s such as these,” he said.

“We’re certainly happy with the outcomes.
