Feeling the fallout

INDIRECT job losses stemming from the shutdown of the domestic car manufacturing industry could rise to 40,000, as Victoria’s industry suppliers struggle to diversify into alternate industries. Federation of Automotive Products Manufacturers manager Tom Chappell said he expected the impact of the closures to be devastating. Around 1200 jobs have already been lost since Toyota, Holden and Ford announced their closures in 2013.
