Aussies out to impress in London
While the focus has been on whether Jarryd Hayne would line up for Fiji in this weekend’s final round of the sevens world series in London, the tournament also looms as the final chance for several Australian players to earn a spot on the Olympics squad.
Among them are Jesse Parahi, who impressed in his return to sevens in Singapore last month, and again in Paris last weekend after an unsuccessful stint with the Wests Tigers in the NRL.
Excitement machine Pama Fou (pictured) will also put his hand up for Rio in his return this weekend after shoulder surgery in December last year.
Australia (127 points) is in fourth place on the standings, behind Fiji (166), South Africa (152) and New Zealand (145).
Fiji needs only to reach the quarter-finals to secure back-to-back series wins, although it has drawn a tough pool alongside Australia, England and Wales.
