WALK FOR CAUSE: The Toowoomba Relay For Life cancer fundraiser created heaps of fun for participants. These Minions (from left) Vivian Almeida, Katrina Calvisi, Abigail Williams, Anita Dickson, Hannah Geurtsen and Megan Apalais certainly attracted some attention after going all out for the event.

AMBER Summers knows first-hand how cancer can affect a person’s life.

She works in Radiation Oncology Centres and helps cancer patients every day.

“We give them vital radiation therapy here in Toowoomba and that’s why we’re here, we’re supporting our patients,” Ms Summers said

She was among thousands of residents who took part in Relay For Life in Queens Park over the weekend.

As part of the event people walk around in circles to raise money and awareness about cancer.

Lawson McCurrin has also been affected by cancer.

One of his grandfathers died of cancer and the other is currently receiving treatment for the disease.

“It affects a lot of people in the community. But the turnout shows people want to do something to change that,” Mr McCurrin said.

He said the walk was all about good vibes.

“Everyone is in a really good mood and wants to be here for a good reason.”

Co-ordinator Jillian Huth said it was a successful event.
