Respite centre

-

THE SENIOR Citizens Day Respite Centre is all about great company, amazing food, fun and activities.

You will need very little to eat when you get home as the morning teas and lunches are delicious and all home-cooked in the centre by Kim, Helen and Sharron.

This is a great way to spend an enjoyable day so do come and join us. The Senior Citizens Day Respite Centre is open to all senior citizens and those not so old with disabilities.

Come and meet with Rayleene and see if you qualify to come along. Have a look at the lovely centre in action and make new friends.

Happy clients join with Rayleene and Sharelle and the great band of staff and volunteers in thanking our many and varied entertainers who keep us so enthralled during our time at the centre.

Over the past weeks we were delighted to welcome entertainers Bill and Jo Newman who are new to our centre. They joined the Tom-Net Singers, Gaye and Joan, Travelling Tunes and Ron and Jenny who keep us laughing at their antics.

Then there were Sunny Side Up, Heritage Highlanders, Peter Kavanagh and Brian Carlin, who keep our feet tapping and our voices singing along with them even if we are a bit “crackely” these days.

Our sincere thanks go to the police and their volunteers who talked to us about their role in the community. They told us about the wrist band and disc they provide for people with dementia to wear.

On one side of the disc is the police phone number and on the other side of the disc is the person’s identity number. A quick phone call to the police can then get these people identified and taken home safely if they have wandered from home.

On a recent visit the firemen asked us to give them a big wave as they raced past to help someone in an emergency. So be sure to do just that if you see them.

For more information, ring Rayleene on 4639 1915 between 8am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
