Idiots speeding in CBD

HEY, you idiots - slow down.

You know who I’m writing about.

They are the dozen or so drivers I encountered between 12.30 and 1.30 yesterday afternoon in and around the CBD.

It’s impossible for me to make sense of their actions.

It’s the busiest time of the year on our roads.

Thousands of families with children are out and about.

There is congestion everywhere you drive.

Yet these fools are speeding like there is no tomorrow.

And some of the drivers were truckies.

One was hammering along James St with a massive load.

There was no doubt he jumped a red light.

Fortunately no one was moving onto the intersection.

It could have been a disaster.

The road toll this year is already far too high.

The Chronicle is running a road safety campaign designed to save lives.

So let’s all slow down and see if we can make our roads a little bit safer rather than turning them into race tracks and potential death traps.
