Pilot turns bit grumpy over bumpy comment

PILOT who flies a lot all over the state and further afield was a bit aggrieved this week when he returned to Toowoomba on a particularly windy day.

After a difficult landing in very tough conditions he was feeling pretty pleased with his effort until one of the passengers commented to another passenger: “We always get a hop, skip and a jump landing with Bill.’’

He may be walking to his next meeting.

Star maker

COUNCILLOR Geoff McDonald was at the presentation of the stars for the One Million Stars to End Violence project. He spearheaded the local version of it.

Offsider: Did you make any stars Geoffrey?

Geoff: Well, I made one!

HIGHFIELDS woman recently took the plunge to upgrade her clunky phone that unkind friends suggested belonged in a technology museum.

Not that it was ever turned on, anyhow, she argued.

The new android certainly seemed pretty and was nice and slim.

Looking good.

All set to join the brave, new world, she received her first call.

Logic suggested press the green phone symbol.

But no matter how many times she pressed it, nothing.

It took Gen-Y friends to point out that users had to apparently swipe the symbol to answer a call.

Ah, the logic of technology.

Not.

Time will tell

GROUP of 55 plus friends caught up for the first time in years recently.

Something about the laughter and wine delayed the normal 8.30 bed time until the wee hours.

Interestingly the wake-up times also were well and truly delayed as the years caught up with the revellers the next day.

Reports are that all were tucked in and fast asleep by 7.30 the next night.

Christmas trivia

A TOOWOOMBA office celebrated Christmas with an impromptu night at trivia this week.

One colleague had perhaps a little too much to drink that afternoon and was not contributing much to the night.

Until a segment came on where people had to guess if the name was that of a My Little Pony character or a Porn Star name.

With no hesitation she told the team “Porn Star” which had the other members curious and concerned as to why she was so certain.

Apparently her little cousins are My Little Pony fans ... or that is the story she is sticking to.
