Lieutenant Lever takes on new role
TOOWOOMBA’S Lieutenant Daniel Lever has officially become a leader, equipped to take charge of a platoon or troop of about 30 soldiers.
At a recent graduation ceremony at the Royal Military College Duntroon, Lt Lever was able to celebrate completing 12 months of extensive military training with family and friends.
RMC-D is where the Australian Army develops its world-class officers, teaching them invaluable leadership, management and military skills to prepare them for the challenging situations unique to service.
Commanding Officer RMC-D Lieutenant Colonel Micah Batt said the training the graduating class had undertaken had brought out their best qualities.
“It has prepared them to make decisions, think quickly and motivate others,” he said.
Lt Lever said he was inspired to join the army after participating in the Defence Work Experience Program at the Oakey Army Aviation Base in Queensland.
“My time at RMC-D has taught me to think both quickly and effectively and how to make appropriate decisions while under immense pressure while in high stress environments,” he said.
Lt Lever will graduate into the 1st Combat Signals Regiment as a Configuration Officer, as part of the Royal Australian Signals Corps.
“These men and women follow in the footsteps of generations of leaders who’ve had both successful military and civilian careers,” Lieutenant Colonel Batt said.
“Our past graduates include state governors, strategists, television personalities, politicians and heads of government departments,” he said.
“Graduates will now commence a range of exciting and rewarding jobs as army officers.”
