IF YOU’VE ever wanted to see a $12,000 painting, then don’t miss this weekend’s Grammar Art Show.

Art show coordinator Pam Brown said she was thrilled that for the first time, the annual art show had secured its first international painting.

She said White Dress on Napoli by Ewa Bathelier, an artist from Paris whose stunning paintings of tutus were highly sought after in New York, Rome and Southampton, would be a highlight of this year’s show.

“Kate Smith’s work will also be highly sought-after this year,” she said.

“We’ve only ever had one available at every show, but this year we have two pieces.”

Mrs Brown, who has been involved in the show for seven years, said the Kate Smith pieces were valued at about $4500.

She said she predicted a tussle over who would purchase them and regret from those who missed out.

This year’s feature artist will be Vivienne Heckels, whose paintings are always popular at the show.

Mrs Brown said there would be something for everyone, with 600 pieces of art from 200 artists on display.

She said prices would range from $40 to $12,000.

The Toowoomba Grammar School Art Show is open from 10am to 4pm tomorrow and Sunday. Entry is $5.

Tickets to tonight’s opening night event, which includes an introduction to feature artist Vivienne Heckles, are almost sold out.

Tickets to the four sessions of the high tea are also sold out.

Organisers said last year’s show sold $150,000 worth of artworks.
