Mungbean growers invited to a field walk
QUEENSLAND growers and advisors with an interest in mungbeans are invited to attend an industry field walk at the Hermitage Research Facility in Warwick on Tuesday, March 28.
The event is being organised by the Australian Mungbean Association and the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, in conjunction with Pulse Australia and the Grains Research and Development Corporation.
The day will start with a barbecue breakfast followed by a walk-around tour to discover the future of mungbean breeding, the latest in mungbean crop protection and agronomy, plus key developments taking place in the industry.
Key speakers from DAF will be pulse breeder Col Douglas, entomologist Liz Williams, pathologist Lisa Kelly and agronomist Kerry McKenzie.
Also lined up to speak on the day will be Tom Noble, from Queensland University of Technology, and Paul McIntosh, from Pulse Australia.
With an interactive tour around the Hermitage Research Facility, attendees will learn about, and discuss with industry experts, all components of the mungbean industry, including topical industry issues.
Demonstrations during the tour will highlight mungbean breeding and pathology research trials and showcase mungbean varieties. There will also be time for discussion on mungbean insect pest control and how to better market your mungbeans.
