Chairman’s message

- Kent Woodford Toowoomba Turf Club chairman

The excitement is building and the Toowoomba Turf Club is ready for the upcoming 2017 Audi Centre Toowoomba Weetwood. Weetwood is our biggest race day of the year and the TTC is thrilled with the response it’s had from the community over the years.

The event has grown, particularly in the last two years as a metropolitan race day, much to the delight of the TTC.

This year marks the 127th running of the iconic Weetwood Handicap race, again showcasing Toowoomba on the metropolitan racing stage as the curtain-raiser to the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival.

This year, on Saturday April 8, Clifford Park will once again host an array of stars – from the amazing equine athletes, their trainers, jockeys, owners and staff and, of course, our wonderful racing spectators. The Darling Downs is well-recognised as the lifeblood of the equine industry of Queensland.

The Toowoomba Turf Club is home to the state’s largest thoroughbred training facility and known as a hub for breeding, educating, training and racing. Myself and the entire TTC committee are very excited about this year’s race day which will, no doubt, provide the very best racing, excellent entertainment and dining — all in the perfect setting at beautiful Clifford Park. This publication contains all the details of the Audi Centre Toowoomba Weetwood and associated events leading up to our iconic race day.

Visit www.weetwood.com.au or phone (07) 4634 6066 for any further information.

I look forward to meeting you trackside.
