Your guide to making a sure bet this Weetwood race day

-

If you’re feeling lucky, why not try a bet or two at the 2017 Audi Centre Toowoomba Weetwood? There’s far more to horse racing than picking a winner and the many terms can get a little confusing, so here are some tips to help you understand the bookmakers’ terms. Remember to always gamble responsibly.

Win:

Choose the horse you think will win.

Place:

Pick a horse and bet whether it will place first, second or third (if there are eight or more runners).

Each way:

Combining a win and a place bet on the same runner, an “each way” bet can allow you to collect both the win and the place dividend if your horse wins or the place dividend if your hose comes in second or third.

Quinella:

Select two horses to come first and second in either order.

Trifecta:

Choose three horses to come first, second and third in the correct order.

Box bet:

Boxing a quinella allows you to choose as many horses as you want and if any two of them finish first and second you win the quinella dividend. Boxing a trifecta also allows you to select as many horses as you wish and if any finish first, second or third, you win the trifecta dividend.

Quadrella:

Select the winners of four nominated races.

You can take as many runners as you like in each race or “leg” of the quadrella.

The more runners you select to win each “leg”, the more combinations you get.

Percentage betting:

You can match it with the professionals who often take large combination bets. You increase your chances of winning by having as many combinations as you want at an outlay to suit your pocket.
