Day of lunch, laughter to raise funds

ANYONE for a margarita?

Weengallon’s annual Pink Ladies Day on Wednesday, August 30, is set to be a lavish celebration as organisers embrace this year’s Fiesta theme.

Weengallon Pink Ladies Day president Emma Montgomery said “fiesta” was one of those words that made people smile because it was all about spending special time with family and friends.

Weengallon, a tiny red ridge town between Goondiwindi and St George, has become famous for attracting 600 pink-clad women each year for a luscious day of lunch and laughter.

The event raises more than $40,000 each year which helps support the position of a local breast care nurse and the Olive McMahon Lodge in Toowoomba which provides free accommodation for country cancer patients and their carers.

This year guests will indulge in shopping at more than 30 luxury stalls before entering the main marquee to be entertained by guest speaker, Robyn Moore.

Mrs Montgomery said AgForce Queensland had come on board as a major sponsor to bring in the well-known voice-over artist, breast cancer survivor and motivational speaker.

“Robyn Moore is dynamic and her keynote address will be high-octane fun, leaving us all feeling fabulous and energised,” Mrs Montgomery said.

“Weengallon Pink Ladies Day has always been about creating a vibrant backdrop that brings wonderful women together for a great day out.”

Tickets for Weengallon’s Fiesta Pink Ladies Day go on sale on Wednesday, July 12 through the WPLD’s website bookings page at www.pinkladiesday.com.

Tickets are $80, and come with five raffle tickets.

Tickets must be pre-paid and numbers are limited.
