Don’t miss out on the murray grey sale
Top-quality stock on offer at annual sale
MURRAY Grey Society vicepresident Brad Densley reckons you can’t find a better breed of cattle than the murray grey.
The breed has dominated the nation’s largest grassfed carcase competition by grading in the top 5% of the Meat Standards Australia Index for eating equality and won awards for carcase quality and saleable red meat yield at the Australian National Field Days 2017 Merial and The Rural National steer trial.
You’ve got the chance to buy your own murray grey bulls or cows at the Top of the Range Murray Grey Annual Sale to be held at Glen Innes Saleyards, Friday, July 14, at 11.30am.
Mr Densley said this year’s offering is a wonderful line-up of bulls and females and is a not to be missed.
He said it was a must for commercial producers and stud operators because there certainly was top-quality stock on offer to improve your herd or fit market specifications with their progeny.
Depending on the requirements of individuals, murray greys, being a British breed of cattle, were suitable for several the current markets and achieving the same higher premium rates for consignments direct to works or feedlots and consistently hitting grid specifications.
Last year’s sale achieved a very healthy 96% clearance for bulls averaging $5600, with total clearance for both stud and commercial females.
“(Murray greys) consistently performed in carcase competitions across the country at the royal shows over recent years, taking out the Sydney Royal Show Stan Hill trophy back to back 2016
and 2017 with purebred team of three,” he said.
“The murray greys also won the Ken McDonald shield at the EKKA in 2016 and have won the carcass section for last three years.
“Adelaide was the trifecta for the murray greys in 2016 again winning the purebred team of three competition.
Mr Densley said other major carcass achievements for murray greys were at Casino Beef Week (grand champion carcass), Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza and Wingham Beef Week Carcass competition (grand champion carcass) three years in a row.
He said murray greys proved their cross breeding ability by
winning the Jackpot at the Brisbane Ekka in 2016 from 340 entries.
On offer there will be 39 scanned quality bulls, 38 stud females and 17 commercial females.
The sale will be held on Friday, July 14, at 11.30am at the Glen Innes saleyards. Inspections are welcome from
9am.
Selling agents on the day will be Nathan Purvis (0427 324 078) and Shad Bailey (0458 322 283) from Colin Say and Co, Glen Innes.
