Producers on global stage

Chance to gain greater access to world market

- Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise executive chairman Shane Charles

ACCESS Hong Kong is set to take off from Toowoomba’s very own Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport in just nine weeks, which means at Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise, and Food Leaders Australia, we’re making the final arrangements for the September 3–7 trip.

After the success of AccessChina’16, which saw a high contingent of delegates in the agricultural industry join the trip, it’s great to see this year’s Access Hong Kong delegation is experiencing strong interest from producers.

Among the program of conferences, site tours and gala events, Access Hong Kong will take our region’s producers to the global stage as part of the Asia Fruit Logistica conference.

Asia Fruit Logistica is where companies across the international fresh fruit and vegetable supply chain meet face-to-face each year, with organisers expecting 700 exhibitors and 11,000 buyers from 70 countries.

We’re stoked to see the return of a number of producers and associated companies on Access Hong Kong, including Story Fresh, Downs Farm Fresh, Sunnyspot Packhouse, Merivale Farms, Bassett Barks, Dandarragan Farms, Brookstead Farming Company, Kialla Pure Foods, Steve Keating and PB Agrifood.

What our region now offers in terms of produce is remarkable. The Toowoomba region is one of the largest and most diverse areas for agricultural production, and thanks to a weekly freight flight from Toowoomba to Hong Kong, our region’s products and produce fly direct to the Asian market.

The agriculture industry generated $743 million in value-add in 2015 and accounts for 9.4% of gross regional product, a major increase over the past decade. Access Hong Kong is a chance to show what our region has to offer the world, and build our export capability, and we want to welcome more producers and businesses aboard the flight and delegation.

Tickets for Access Hong Kong close on July 31, so book now, or call our office on 4639 4600 to arrange your seat. One-way and spouse packages are also available, starting at $650.

Last year we unlocked $350 million in future business opportunities and we’re excited to see what opportunities this trip will bring our region, from the networking, targeted introductions and program available.
