Seven residents celebrate super syndicate

-

A GROUP of Toowoomba people has had the win of a lifetime, taking division one in the weekend’s Lotto draw.

The seven residents are literally grinning ear to ear after the store syndicate called Stuck with Smiley took out first prize in the Saturday Gold Lotto Draw.

Their syndicate was one of six division one winning entries across the country, each taking home $719,408.05. But the syndicate had some extra luck. It also won division two 12 times, division three six times, division four 45 times and division five 20 times.

That made their total win $812,629.30 meaning each member won $116,089.91.

The lucky syndicate was bought from South Street Newsagency and used an entry made up of two System 9 games.

Owner Robert Reid said the outlet was celebrating its fifth division one winning entry and third division one winning syndicate.

“We’re over the moon. We’re the luckiest store in Toowoomba,” Mr Reid said.

“I had a message at 10.10pm Saturday night that the syndicate had won and it woke me up. I didn’t sleep for the rest of the night.

“We’re very, very happy for our customers. We’ve got lovely customers. They’re great people and we’re really happy that it’s happened to them.

“We’ve had about four syndicate members come in already and they’ve been pretty happy. I think it will set a few of them up.”

Mr Reid explained the Stuck with Smiley store syndicate had been operating each week for about a year, but did not have regular members.

“It’s named after a girl in our shop and we’re stuck with her,” he joked.

“She usually buys a ticket but she didn’t last week! I didn’t have a share either. That’s just what happens isn’t it.”
