A pilot; an astronaut; an engineer; an architect; a paramedic; a nurse; a lawyer; or a teacher? Imagining what your ‘future’ self will look like is an exciting picture to paint. And where better to start shaping you future than at Open Day at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ). With more than 700 courses to choose from, USQ Open Day has something for everyone. Prospective students can immerse themselves in USQ’s diverse programs and be inspired by our guest speakers… From a poor upbringing in mainland China to international stardom as a world-class ballet dancer, Li Cunxin has become a household name thanks to his best-selling autobiography, Mao’s Last Dancer. Now residing in Brisbane, Li’s life is vastly different to the one he lead 50 years ago. He’ll be guest speaker at the USQ Open Day in Toowoomba this Sunday (August 13) where he’ll share his story with aspiring students. USQ’s Open Day in Springfield on August 20 will host motivational speaker Turia Pitt. After suffering burns to 65 per cent of her body when she was caught in a bushfire, her tale of survival has made Turia one of Australia’s most recognised and admired inspirational speakers. Three-time Paralympic Gold Medallist Kurt Fearnley will round off the impressive guest speaker line-up, talking at USQ’s Open Day in Ipswich on September 2. Born without the lower portion of his spine, Kurt is an expert at overcoming adversity. He’s competed in 54 marathons, won the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race in 2012, and even completed the Kokoda Track. Considering university study? Then visit USQ’s specialised facilities, including our RAAF flight simulator, state-of-the-art media centre, nursing lab and more at Open Day. Academics will also be on hand to answer questions; there will also be live demonstrations and campus tours. The first step to changing your world is spending a few hours in ours.
