Bumper crowds at festival
No doubt we love food and wine event
THERE is no doubt Toowoomba residents love the annual Ergon Energy Food and Wine Festival.
Toowoomba Regional Council tourism and events portfolio leader Councillor Geoff McDonald said between the lovely wine, the delicious food and the wonderful musical talent, there was no shortage of people piling through the gates for a taste of the fun.
“We got good numbers at the food and wine festival,” he said.
“We had just over 6500 on Friday, a sell-out on Saturday, which means 10,000 people, and by 2pm today (Sunday) we had 5000 tickets sold, so I tipped 7500.
“So the numbers were terrific.”
The popular festival kicked off on Friday night with performances from indie rocker Alex Lahey, followed by The Paper Kites and the Temper Trap.
Visitors to the festival also enjoyed plenty of photo opportunities as well as the having the chance to make their own flower crowns and get painted up with henna tattoos.
If that wasn’t enough to keep them amused, there were also gardening demonstrations from the likes of Gardening Australia’s Sophie Thomson, market stalls, spit roasting demonstrations and plenty more.
