FUN ACTIVITIES FOR THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

-

WHILE there are plenty of things happening in the city this week for the Toowomba Carnival of Flowers, there are heaps of other activities happening to keep your little ones occupied these September school holidays.

SENSORY GARDEN

IN GRAND Central’s Centre Court, the Sensory Garden includes fidget spinner poles, succulent gardens, a music wall, origami bird feature, hopscotch, and a sensory spinning drum.

The garden also features a workshop area, which during the September school holidays will host fun daily spring-themed workshops that engage the senses.

Free drop-in activities at the Sensory Garden include the following workshops:

School Holidays Week 1 (Until September 24, 10am to 2pm)

Enjoy the amazing surrounds of the Sensory Garden as the little ones create individualised butterfly wings or kites.

Children will be provided with all the tools needed to decorate their creations including glitter sticks, coloured pens, stickers and gentle guidance from the workshop staff.

The workshops are free to all children and will be available for four hours per day.

School Holidays Week 2 (September 25 to October 1, 10am to 2pm, Herb Garden)

Enjoy watching children’s joy and wonder of growing your own edible herb garden.

This free workshop will see children provided with all the tools needed to make their own take-home herb garden, in cute little herb baskets.

An emphasis is placed on environment and land care, with a focus on the benefits of nurturing plants for harvest whilst enjoying the surrounds of the Sensory Garden.
