David loves to inspire gardeners
TOOWOOMBA gardener David Stanfield loves to create.
He said he loved taking something natural and working with that to create something beautiful.
“I find the potential in plants and then find the right spot for that in my garden,” he said.
Mr Stanfield, who lives in Mabel St in Toowoomba, is one of the many first-time entrants of The Chronicle Garden Competition.
He said he was enjoying being part of the city’s long-running garden competition.
Mr Stanfield said it was quite a busy time being involved in the competition but loved being able to meet people from all walks of life who came to visit.
“I get up at 7am to water the garden and then I do a bit of a walk around to do a tidy up, pick up some branches that might have fallen down overnight, that sort of thing,” he said.
“We have tea and coffee on the deck for people who come to visit so we get that ready and then wait for them to start arriving.
“Then it’s chatting to people.”
He said his garden was open until 5pm and then reopened for a twilight garden tour.
Mr Stanfield, whose day job is a motivational speaker, said it was wonderful to have people give positive feedback on the garden - and be inspired by his work.
Gardens in The Chronicle Garden Competition, as well as The Chronicle Exhibition Gardens, are open to be viewed until Sunday thanks to sponsors Toowoomba Regional Council and Heritage Bank.
