Road closures in place for national police vigil
THE Darling Downs police district will host a National Police Remembrance Day vigil ceremony in honour of fallen colleagues.
Following the loss of Toowoomba police officer Senior Constable Brett Forte earlier this year, police are expecting an increased public attendance on Wednesday.
Due to the large amount of people expected, Neil St will be closed between Herries St and Margaret St between 5.15pm and 7.15pm.
The following traffic diversions will be in place:
No left turn into Neil St from Margaret St for traffic travelling westbound
No right turn into Neil St from Margaret St for traffic travelling eastbound
No right turn into Neil St from Herries St for traffic travelling westbound
No left turn into Neil St from Herries St for traffic travelling eastbound
Road closed Union St at intersection with Annand St
No left turn into Neil St from Union St for traffic travelling eastbound
No right turn into Neil St from Jessie Lane for traffic travelling eastbound (traffic authorised to turn left into Neil St)
Road closed Hall Lane at intersection with Annand St
No left turn into Neil St from Hall Lane for traffic travelling eastbound
No right turn into Neil St from Thom St for traffic travelling westbound
Police said the information was to give motorists timely advice and to be aware of potential traffic disruptions within the Toowoomba CBD.
The vigil will be held from 6pm to 6.30pm.
