Fashionistas lap up polo action:
A LITTLE extra sunscreen was the order of the day but it didn’t stop the city pulling on its best frocks and lapping up the action at Queens Park on Saturday.
While the mercury soared, the fashion on show did not disappoint at this year’s Spring Polo.
The stalls and tents, doubling up as makeshift runways for the hundreds of fashionistas, provided ample shade and fitting refreshments for the marquee annual event.
While there may have been a larger presence of wide-brim hats this year, the event was a showcase of the season’s trends
Grand Central Shopping Centre fashion spokeswoman Savannah Barber was keeping an eye on all things fashion at the event.
“There has been a lot of people even though we had some really warm weather,” she said.
“Everyone is wearing bright colours and lots of floral numbers.”
The soaring temperatures did little to stop event-goers from dressing to impress.
The jovial atmosphere was a perfect background for the day’s sporting activities, which played second fiddle to the plethora of drinks and snacks on offer in shaded tents.
“Yesterday it was hailing so I am so pleased that it was so warm today,” Ms Barber said. “We are so lucky to have the lovely umbrellas to stay underneath.”
