Energy boom hot topic for round-up
THE renewable energy boom on the Western Downs will be the focus of a two-day conference in Dalby next month.
With 10 solar projects approved and pending construction in the Western Downs Regional Council area, the renewable energy sector is emerging as a significant investment opportunity for Darling Downs operators.
The conference, run by Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise, will highlight those opportunities and others in the coal, gas, ethanol and wind sectors, and include site tours of two major developments.
“Companies in our region can provide construction across a range of areas, and are set to benefit from the projects,” TSBE executive chairman Shane Charles said.
Western Downs Mayor Paul McVeigh said in the past two years the council had blazed a trail in the renewable energy sector.
“We’ve been creating investment opportunities that will strengthen our economy and provide employment opportunities within our communities,” Cr McVeigh said.
The 2017 Renewable Energy Roundup will be held in Dalby on November 9-10. Canadian Solar senior project manager Jochen Rasmussen and APA Group’s Sam Pearce are among speakers at the conference.
Tickets are $195 for TSBE members, and $245 for non-members. Book at tsbe.com.au.
