Darling Downs Panther trains with netball stars

Mia Stower in line for Fusion spot

-

NETBALL: Toowoomba’s Mia Stower has been selected in the Queensland Fusion training squad for 2018.

The Darling Downs Panthers star will train alongside high-profile netballers which includes former Australian Diamonds defender Chanel Gomes, Scotland international Hayley Mulheron and former New South Wales Swifts Amy Sommerville and Emma Tickner.

The Fusion squad will meet in late January and train through February before being cut from 26 to 16 players on February 19.

Queensland Fusion Coach Tracey Jeanes-Fraser said she was delighted with the make-up of her 2018 squad and hoped they can atone for last year’s two overtime final losses.

“We’ve learnt a lot from it. The girls that were in the team will hold those results close to their chest and use them as motivation,”

Jeanes-Fraser said.

“With the new mix of players we’ve got and the

experience we’ve gained, I think they can take us all the way to the grand final if

not better.”

Stower will be gunning for a spot in Fusions’ starting line with round one of the Australian Netball League kicking off on May 5.
