TOOWOOMBA is home to Queensland’s best newsagent, and she couldn’t be happier.

Linda Harris, from News Extra Hooper Centre, was named the Queensland Newsagent of the Year at a recent awards night by the Australian Lottery and Newsagents Association.

“I was shocked,” Ms Harris said.

“I was shocked enough to get nominated, let alone win it as well.”

Ms Harris was one of 21 nominees from throughout the state and has made sure to show off her new trophy to her customers.

“If it wasn’t for the customers I wouldn’t have won it,” she said.

“It is nice to be recognised for the work I do.”

Ms Harris has been working with newsagents for the past three years and said it was a perfect fit as she was a “people person”.

“I love chatting with the customers, just being able to help them out, get them what they want,” she said.

“There are always different things. I am always learning something.”

Ms Harris does such a good job she said there were customers who drove from out of town, bypassing other newsagents, to come and see her.

“For me it was just an honour to be nominated and I just love all the customers,” she said.
