HARRISTON STUDENTS STEP OUT IN STYLE
HARRISTOWN State High School’s graduating class danced the night away at this year’s formal.
Year 12 coordinator Angela Clarry said the evening held on Friday was a huge success, with about 175 students celebrating at the Highfields Cultural Centre.
“They arrived and then students and their families got to have some photos,” Ms Clarry said.
“Parents are invited to stay until about 7pm to listen to speeches from the students, principal Ken Green, as well as a speech on behalf of the parents; this year it was Tammy Koch.
“The students sat down for a meal and then pretty much spent the whole night dancing.”
Students arrived in different transportation including trucks, limos and a hummer to a large crowd, eager to see the dressed up students.
But Ms Clarry said the most unique was a “white mustang”. In fact two students arrived in a cardboard car, driven by a person wearing a white horse head.
Ms Clarry and the formal committee spent the entire school year organising the Year 12s’ big event.
“It is a very proud moment getting to see them all walk across the stage for the graduation ceremony and then off into the big wide world,” Ms Clarry said.
“It is always a good moment to watch them do that.”
