Toowoomba may have found its answer to the Waugh brothers.

Like his younger brother Callum, who featured in the Chronicle’s sport pages several weeks ago, Morgan Galvin is ready to represent his state.

Galvin has been named in the Queensland under-15 side for the national championships on the Sunshine Coast in February next year.

I work hard on the stuff I need to improve. — Morgan Galvin

The 15-year-old finished the state titles as Darling Downs’ top run scorer, scoring a century in his first game.

Oddly enough Galvin opens the bowling for his side, but he has been working on his batting.

“I want to improve my batting so I naturally just do a lot of work on it,” he said.

“I work hard on the stuff I need to improve.

“I’m mainly a bowler but I’ve worked hard on my batting to fit myself into that all-rounder role.

“As a bowler I think my strength is my ability to move the ball a bit.”

Heading into the national championships Galvin said he is focused on working hard for his team.

“I want to be a good team player and do whatever the team requires,” he said.

“If that means batting for a long time or bowling a good spell I want to be the guy who can deliver that for Queensland.”
