IT WILL be hard to miss hundreds of motorcycles riding through Toowoomba with donations for kids in tow.

The Downs Motorcycle Sporting Club is preparing for its annual Toowoomba Toy Run, which last year attracted 380 motorcycles.

President JJ Rodgers said this year marked the 40th year of the Toy Run in Toowoomba, with the club taking part for the past 31 years.

“We try and get as many donations of toys and things for kids that we can and for the kids that go without this time of year,” Mr Rodgers said.

The ride supports St Vincent de Paul and the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation.

“We try and target age groups that tend to miss out a little bit, like the teenage boys and girls,” he said.

The Toowoomba Toy Run will be held on Sunday, December 17.

Riders will meet at Picnic Point from 10.30am before leaving for the Toowoomba Showgrounds at noon.

Other riders will also leave from Oakey, Goombungee, Gatton and Nobby at 10.30am, bound for Picnic Point.

Anyone can donate on the day, either at Picnic Point or at the showgrounds from 1pm where there will also be food and drink.

“It’s just a bit of a sense of giving back to the community and raising the profile of motorcycling in general,” Mr Rodgers said.
