THE internationally bestselling book, Wonder by R J Palacio is now a major movie starring Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson.

It’s the story of August Pullman – a ten-year-old boy who’s desperate to blend in, but is destined to stand out.

Born with a facial abnormality, Auggie has been home-schooled by his parents his whole life.

Now, for the first time, he’s being sent to a real school. All he wants is to be accepted. But can he convince his new classmates that he’s just like them, underneath it all?

Auggie does ordinary things – eats ice cream, plays on his Xbox. He feels ordinary – inside. But ordinary kids don’t make other ordinary kids run away screaming in playgrounds. Ordinary kids aren’t stared at wherever they go. Wonder is an unforgettable and powerful read.

Mandeville Films / Lionsgate production has adapted the popular 2012 children’s novel, taking the inspiring and heart-warming story of August Pullman to the big screen.

In his role as Auggie, Jacob Tremble portrays the character’s joys, disappointments, fears and hopes in negotiating the pitfalls of school for the first time, very convincingly. The film’s themes of compassion, acceptance and kindness ring loud and clear. It is now playing at cinemas around Australia and should be added the list of things to do these holidays.
