Uni keen to find form in Twenty20
CRICKET: University pushed the T20 defending premiers all the way in the opening round of the Twenty20 clashes at the weekend.
Halfway through their game against Northern Brothers Diggers, University coach Chris Webster thought the game had gotten away from them.
However some strong batting at the end of the order got University within two balls of winning off the last over.
Unfortunately they only scored one more run tying the scores up at the end of the game.
“We finished quite strong it was a good game to watch,” Webster said.
And it was also an improvement from their opening game against Wests.
“We weren’t disgraced by Wests either, we lost by 25 runs,” Webster said.
“At least we took something away rather than two losses.
“They were probably two of the better teams we have played.”
University will now look to rectify an inconsistent one-day season and find some form in the Twenty20 competition leading up to the two-day matches.
“We’ll be trying to get the team set and stable heading into the main competition,” Webster said.
He believed next weekend’s games against Lockyer and HighfieldsRailways were well within University’s reach.
“Hopefully we have a couple of wins next weekend before Christmas,” he said.
