Talented Shuch sisters kick goals in DD sport
MEET the talented Schuh sisters making their mark on Toowoomba sport.
Emma and her younger sister Liv have both had a stellar year in touch football and gymnastics.
Emma was part of the winning Saints touch football team which won the C-grade winter competition this year.
She was awarded player of the final and recently received the Bobby Gates Junior commitment female major award for 2017.
“Emma is so passionate about touch football and is an outstanding player who always puts her team first,” St Joseph’s middle leader of sport Deb Newton said.
The St Joseph’s student also refereed the All Schools Primary School touch football carnival at Redlands last month after completing her level two badge.
“She refereed the quarter-final game and received many compliments for being a great referee,” Newton said.
Her younger sister Liv was also playing in the junior state carnival as part of the mixed division team which went on to win the championships.
The junior team edged out 52 other schools to win the title and only conceded three tries the whole tournament.
Liv had a great year of touch for Darling Downs and was a Swanie (SWANS) who competed in Townsville as well this year.
Her achievements don’t stop there though.
In September Liv qualified for States in gymnastics for level 5 under-12s.
She took out first place on the vault with a score of 9.65 and finished fifth overall in Queensland out of 72 competitors in her division.
“This is an outstanding achievement in gymnastics,” Newton said.
Liv trains with the Allstars Gymnastics where the St Joseph students, where Liv will be attending next year, go for afternoon sport.
“Liv is a quiet achiever but is very determined and trains 13 hours a week,” Newton said.
“I don’t know how she fits in piano lessons and touch which she absolutely loves as well.”
