Get into the festive spirit this weekend with these activities

1. Carols on the Green

WHEN: Tomorrow, 6.30pm WHERE: The Highfields Hub, 55 Highfields Rd

BRING a rug or bean bags and slip your shoes off while you enjoy barefoot carols on the green, celebratin­g the birth of Jesus.

Socks and flat soled shoes can also be worn.

There will be pulled beef and gravy rolls, and snacks and drinks to buy.

Parking is available at the Highfields Hub, and at the kindy off Andersson Ct.

There is a wet weather venue, so the carols will go ahead rain or shine.

2. M.S. Dance USQ

WHEN: Today, 8pm

WHERE: MS Hall, USQ, Baker

St

COME and enjoy a fun-filled night of old-fashioned dancing.

There will be a lucky-door prize, Monte Carlo and lucky spots.

Dance along to live music by Jim Kelly. Admission is $10 and includes supper.

3. My Local Feast

WHEN: Today, 7am-1pm WHERE: Under the windmills beside Cobb and Co

MY LOCAL Feast Farmers’ market is the perfect place to grab a swag of local produce for the Christmas spread.

There will be a huge range of locally-grown fruit and vegetables as well as fresh-made pasta, chutneys, jams, ethically-raised meats, eggs, bread, olives and plenty more.

4. Festivus

WHEN: Today, 6pm

WHERE: The Spotted Cow FESTIVUS is probably the most important holiday on the calendar for Seinfeld fans and

those seeking alternativ­e to the pressures and commercial­ism of the Christmas season.

Practices include the Festivus pole, Festivus dinner, The Airing of Grievances, Feats of Strength and there might even be a few Festivus miracles.

5. Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland

WHEN: Today, and tomorrow, 7pm to 10pm

WHERE: Queens Park Gardens THIS traditiona­l Christmas lights display runs until tonight offering the joy and spirit of Christmas to young and old.

The event is hosted by the Lions Club of Toowoomba West.

There will be entertainm­ent from local groups and

individual­s as well as a barbecue sausage sizzle.

Entry is a gold-coin donation.

6. See some Christmas trees

WHEN: Any time

WHERE: New England Highway near Pechey

BEAT the heat and head out for a nice family drive north of Toowoomba to see some beautiful Christmas trees decorated by anonymous members of the Crows Nest community.

Find 20-30 stunning trees from the overtaking lane to the Goombungee turnoff coming towards Crows Nest.

7. Last Party before Christmas

WHEN: Today, 2pm-midnight WHERE: God’s Squad clubhouse, 42 Brisbane St,

Drayton

GOD’S Squad CMC is set to host Toowoomba’s “Last Party Before Christmas”.

Come and see the bike show and shine and enjoy a barbecue as well as live music and fellowship.

The barbecue is $5 per person.

8. Christmas Oasis

WHEN: Today, from 11am

WHERE: Clifford park Racecourse

NEED some rest and relaxation before Christmas Day?

Head to the Clifford Park Christmas Oasis!

There will be live local day racing, live music by Kane Maher Music and “Oasis” bars on the front lawn.

It is the perfect remedy to help you escape the Christmas madness.

9. PCYC markets

WHEN: Tomorrow, 7am-12.30pm

WHERE: Toowoomba PCYC, James St

KNOCK over all the last-minute Christmas shopping at the popular PCYC markets.

From last-minute gifts to fresh fruit and veg, this market will help you tie up the last festive loose ends.

10. Christmas lights

WHEN: Today and tomorrow WHERE: Various locations TAKE the kids for a drive in the evening and check out the fantastica­lly decorated houses in the Garden City and surrounds.

Many homes have been decked out in true festive style with lights and decoration­s for The Chronicle Christmas Lights Competitio­n.
