Hospitals spread Christmas cheer

-

AT THIS time of year, with Christmas just around the corner, hospital patients tend to feel the pain of being separated from loved ones and festivities even more than usual.

In an attempt to bring cheer to the table for patients, Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service catering manager and chef Geoff Schultz and his team take special care to cook up a festive feast on Christmas Day.

This year’s Toowoomba Hospital menu is once again outstanding, with options including ham and cheese egg bake for breakfast, roast ham and turkey with vegetables followed by pavlova with fresh cream and fruit for lunch, and roast chicken with vegetables

followed by Christmas pudding and custard for dinner.

The Baillie Henderson Hospital menu is also mouth-watering, including an egg bake and hash browns for breakfast, chicken, ham and prawns for lunch, a selection of sandwiches for dinner, and treats throughout the day including fruit mince pies, fruit cake, stone fruit, mango, fruit pudding with custard and strawberry

cheesecake slice.

St Vincent’s Private Hospital is also putting on a Christmas spread, with choices of roast turkey with gravy and cranberry sauce or glazed baked ham, roasted thyme pumpkin and roasted rosemary potato, green beans, ham and roast pumpkin salad, and for desert, warm plum pudding with brandy custard, fruit mince pie with custard, cherries, nectarines and peaches.
