Ice rink planned for civic square

-

TOOWOOMBA will have its own ice skating rink as part of Winter Wonderland celebrations planned for the coming months.

The Toowoomba Regional Council formally adopted the tourism plan during the confidential section of last week’s ordinary meeting.

The winter program will be held in Toowoomba’s Civic Square near the city’s library, including a 160-person ice skating rink open to the public.

“Council has approved initial plans for the Winter Wonderland, which will be held in the Civic Square during the June/July school holidays,” Tourism and Events portfolio leader Geoff McDonald said.

“Exact dates and other details will be announced when plans are finalised.

“The concept will include an open air ice skating rink that is capable of holding 160 people per session.

“Council has been working to offer additional activities for residents to enjoy during winter, particularly in the mid-year school holidays.”

Other activities would be revealed closer to the date.
