Chance to audition for part in award-winning production

-

NOW is your chance to be cast in a Toowoomba production of an award-winning play.

The Toowoomba Repertory Theatre is holding auditions on Saturday for parts in the comedy Plaza Suite ,by American Tony Award-winning playwright Neil Simon.

There are multiple parts on offer, spanning a wide range of ages, in the slapstick comedy that appeared on Broadway for two years.

Director Adrian Smith said the play told the stories of three widely different couples occupying suite 719 in New York’s Plaza Hotel.

“The first is of a suburban couple trying to rescue a marriage in tatters followed by a Hollywood producer who invites over his childhood sweetheart in the hope he can seduce her,” Mr Smith said.

“The final story sees frustrated parents arguing over how to entice their daughter out of the locked bathroom and downstairs to the ballroom for her wedding and reception.

“This play really is a lot of fun for actors and audience alike.”

The play will be performed in July and the theatre is also looking for crew members for the production.

A casting pack for the auditions which describes the characters and audition pieces can be downloaded from toowoombarep.com.au and for more information contact Mr Smith on 4696 8254 or email smithaj1@bigpond.com.

The auditions will be held at Toowoomba Repertory Theatre, 94 Margaret St opposite Queens Park, next to Park House Café at 3pm.
