Charity bowls day planned

-

THE Oncology Unit at the Toowoomba Hospital will benefit from a Memorial Bowls Day at the North Toowoomba Bowls Club on Thursday.

North’s member Jim Bonser wished to donate $100 for prizes and requested a memorial bowls day be held for his late son, Paddy Bonser, who sadly died at 37 from bone cancer. The former army soldier served his country in Brunei.

Fellow club members quickly joined in and Toowoomba Embroidery, Gayles Framing, Clearspan, Synthetic Grass and member Jan Mitchell all added $100 each to the purse. The club committee decided to donate some of the purse to the Oncology Unit at Toowoomba Hospital.

The day will feature a club selected Open Triples format at a cost of $12 per player and is open to all bowlers. More than 40 players have nominated and more are welcome to play. A multi-draw raffle will be held. To nominate and play, call the Norths club on 4639 2338 or email ntbc@bigpond.com
